About This Course

Let’s talk about the PMO. The Project (or Program, Portfolio, Process, Policy, etc.) Management Office is one of the most controversial and misunderstood project-related organizational functions we’ve come to know in our careers. We have a hard time articulating and agreeing on the focus, function and purpose of the PMO including the role it plays, the scope of the PMO once it’s established, or even its name. The most critical challenge is finding the right organizational home for the PMO, leading most to simply follow common practice which inevitably starts another PMO failure cycle.

Through PMI Fellow, Eric Norman’s, vast experience, you’ll examine what differentiates successful PMOs from those that fail. This course covers many of the challenges organizations face when establishing a PMO, common practices that lead to failure, and those characteristics of an effective, value-driven PMO. You’ll learn new concepts for the PMO designed to break the failure cycle and transform your organizational construct to position the PMO for success. Earn 2 Business Acumen PDUs, improve your PMO effectiveness, and start delivering real-value to your organization today.

This course is available in the PDU Passport, our all-access pass to every InSite PDU course.

Velociteach is doing a great job of helping me earn my PDUs through the courses offered to me. I am most enthusiastic about project management and the Agile methodology that is garnering a lot of attention. Kudos to Velociteach and Neal Whitten to take this on and provide more information to PMI PMP's such as myself. It helps me to take the course on my own pace and when it serves me best to get on the computer to learn it.
